Our short story:
Cashflow3 came together in April 2013. The band started out with Eric van Zonneveld, Wim Bevelander, and Matthijs Goedegebuure, who came together in February 2013 to play for the Johnny Cash church service in Papendrecht. This event reached national press and diverse radio shows. This trio could be heard live on a few radio stations. Matthijs "We came together on Thursday evening to meet each other and practice a few times".
The next morning we sat at 8:45am on the radio station RTV Rijnmond in the live broadcast. The event drew a lot of attention that in a great haste a second service had to be organized so that everyone could have a place to sit. The reviews were full of praise. After the first, unexpected success the three musicians were asked to play for a Johnny Cash Tribute at a big festival. The musicians felt the flow that they had landed in and decided to form a band called CashFlow3; two experienced musicians Oscar Bax and Derek Erkelens completed the band. In May 2013 they rehearsed in this formation for the first time, to make their own unique sound in the American style of Johnny Cash. |
On July 6, 2013 they performed for the occasion of the ZIP Festival in Lopik, Holland. After that they took a break for the summer. On September 15th they had their first official performance in the theatre called “De Willem” in Papendrecht, Holland. They played for a sold out auditorium and the crowd went wild.
CashFlow3 continues further where Johnny Cash closed his guitar case. The band allows themselves to be inspired by the energy that Cash knew to unleash with his musicians during his legendary prison appearance at San Quentin and Folsom Prison. They are also inspired by the vulnerable simplicity that Rick Ruben found Johnny Cash in the last years of his life and put him back on the international map. He touched the lives of young and old with songs like “Hurt”. |
